Today's Webtip: Image Swirl
Google Labs is at it again. Never content to leave well enough alone, they have dropped a new product for fans of Google Image Search.

unknown
Despite using that flash thing, they have managed to stay true to the standard minimalist design Google seems to enjoy so much. After entering a search term you get a 3x4 grid of images that will then expand to a Pandora like grouping of similar images.
Not every search term is available right now, so I'm not sure just how useful this could be on a daily basis, but I can definitely see some potential. The standard search returns can be a bit scattershot, and although it can be funny to see some of the more bizarre results, grouping them by similarity could make finding things a bit easier.
The abiltiy to find similar images is nothing new. It actually got out of the labs a while ago and his been a standard part of the image search for awhile. One that works amazingly well might I add.
Now if Google would just go and get Tineye, and combine Image Swirl with Tineye results, we might actually end up with something exciting...
