Today's Webtip: 2012

let the debunking begin.

Some of you may have noticed that there is yet another reason for people to get all silly with panic. In december 2012 the Mayan Calendar is going to end.

Some people have decided that this means the end times are near.

Again.

It seems like we have been through this a few times in the last decade, sometimes at a global level like with the fabulous millenium bug, and sometimes at a regional level with verious groups of people who decided they times were about to be done changin'.

It's all back in the media again thanks to a brand spankin new catastrophe film. And it looks as though there are a few people who might be taking it seriously. Serious enough that one or two groups have decided that some serious debunking was needed.

NASA for example. They have put together a page addressing a few of the fears people have been expressing in regards to 2012.

For those of you who like it less wordy, but with more humor (and even more typos) you could check out this lovely infographic:

Looks like it still isn't time to party like it's 1999.
