Today's Webtip: Myna
One of the things that people have been hyping for years are becoming a quite useable reality. Online applications can in many situations replace the classic desktop app in a pinch, and some can almost replace their local equivalent.
In the past I've linked to a few online photo editors, and the Aviary has had a relatively large collection of online graphic editors for a while now. They are quite acceptable for most casual users too.
And now they have moved into Audio.
As I was looking for some free Audio editing alternatives to Audacity for my radio workshops, I stumbled across Aviary's latest addition, Myna. It's a multi-track editing solution with built in access to a large collection of loops and samples. The layout will be familiar to most anyone who has used classic multi-track apps, and it's a breath of fresh air compared to the open source king Audacity.
You can import or record your own audio, or use some from the Myna collections.
They also have a built in clip and mix sharing system, so it supports creative sharing in a pretty cool way. Not surprising since it is all put together by the people behind worth1000.com. They don't make any claims on your copyrights, and encourage people to go the Creative Commons route.
I think it's nifty.
