Today's Webtip: Your Parents Were Awesome
I can still remember the first time I was confronted with the fact that my mom hadn't always been my mom. An old friend had been visiting and talking about the good old days and I managed to pick up on the fact that my mom was the type who did all of the things I was most decidedly NOT allowed to do.
It wasn't long afterwards that I found the fotos suggesting my parents had been what would have been (in the 80's) described as Rockabillies. Something I might have assumed had I paid attention to the fact that my first records were a pretty awesome collection of 45's including loads of Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry tracks.
In other words, my mother hadn't always been a Neil Diamond fan.
Of course, now I'm having the reverse revelation as I check out friends pages on Facebook and keep asking myself who abducted my friends and replaced them with their parents. I guess it happens to the best of us.

That said, their is a brand new tumblr collection up focusing on the other aha moment. It's called "My Parents Were Awesome" and it has the potential to become pretty aewsome.
The value of awesome seems to vary quite a bit amongst the people submitting fotos, but all in all, it's a pretty awesome collection of awesome, even if it'S just enough to make you wonder what some people consider awesome.
Which, in and of itself is sort of awesome.
Ted for example, is undeniably awesome.
And then there is Dennis:

Dennis is not only a completely different type of awesome, he's probably from a different planet of awesome.
Makes me wonder what type of things his kids get grounded for...
