Today's webtip: context and content

both are pretty helpful in understanding what's going on in Iran.

Interesting times. We certainly do have them. Some more than others.

Trying to make sense of the interesting times in Iran has been a rather interesting exercise in and of itself. Between the net crackdown, media blackout, and general confusion of the last few days it might be time to take a step back and look at what we already know.

Dan Coleman has provided some interesting links to a video and a talk featuring Abbas Milani the director of the Iranian Studies Program at Stanford University. The video is of a presentation he made last August at Google Headquarters. In it he explains the power structures in Iaran and talks about the developing democratic movement.

The audio file is a talk between Milani, Juan Cole, and Scott Peterson, the Istanbul bureau chief for The Christian Science Monitor.
