Today's webtip: The Hammer Pants Dance

flashmob and most likely some kind of viral marketing but still worth watching.

I like the idea of flashmobs. Really. The world needs more good weird.

I'm not sooo crazy about the fact that flashmobs have been co-opted into the service of corporate marketing. Knowing the participants were doing it for the dough takes a lot of the fun out of it.

Which brings us to the Hammer Pants Dance flashmob that stormed some store in L.A. Now, it might just be the fact that hopeful dancers and performeers from all over the world flock to L.A. to end up working as burger flippers and retail sales clerks which increases the likelihood that a random group of stranger would just happen to be great dancers. It might also be the result of a few rounds of casting and some promises of future shots at a real gig.

Whatever the case may be, the result is the same, a highly entertaining clip of folks doing a dance in saggy pants and then dissapearing into the distance. Enjoy it while we can still pretend it's not viral marketing...
