Today's webtip: Learn to cook
I like to cook. Done properly, with a room full of friends tossing witty banter about like a bad salad, it can be one of the best ways to pass some time.
Done improperly, it can be a method of mass discomfort.
And believe it or not, blind attempts at following recipes can make it all go horribly wrong. But in order to get away from cooking by the book, you have to do some learning. That can either be done with books, classes, or websites featuring quirky little videos.
One man who has done an incredible amount of work on the web is the chef Todd Mohr. He has over 150 videos online showing you how NOT to do it by the book. They are fabulous, and he really seems to enjoy what he is doing. That is always cool.
So if you have a couple of weeks to spare, you can run through his Cooking Coarse.
If you would rather dig around on his website where things are sort of ordered into somewhat coherent groupings, you can do that too.
