Today's webtip: Get Back!

the data to where it once belonged.

Okay, bad Beatles paraphrases aside, I am sure most of you have at one time or other misplaced the odd file or two. When I say misplaced, I mean inadvertently deleted, and when I say file or two I mean the entire contents of a memory card. It sucks. I know this, because it happens to me regularly. Most frequently while I am in the process of doing a full backup. But you already know about that.

What you might not know is that you can get those files back without paying the several hundred Euros some computer shops would charge to do it. And you can do it for free. Plus a lot of sweat and labor and worry.

Lifehacker has one of their top 5 posts up. This one lists off 5 free software solutions for data recovery. They have something for every platform, and even if you don't need it now, this is the type of thing you will probably want to bookmark for that rainy day.

Because it WILL come. And when it does, even if you are going to get some unfortunate friend to do it for you, being able to send them this link to get on their way would be a really nice thing to do.
