Today's webtip: Nifty Stuff

can I have it right now please?

M.I.T and the Media Lab is one of those places where all sorts of frighteningly clever people get to hang out with each other and make frighteningly clever stuff that the rest of us can only dream of. Sometimes they even come out of hiding long enough to show us poor fools all of the nifty stuff we aren't clever enough to make.

The Wearables lab is one of the worst. They used to be the ones who would roll out some clever bit of gadgetry that we would never get to play with. Now it seems to be the Fluid Interfaces group. Patie Maes walked out onto the TED stage and gave us a taste of some augmented reality using a phone, a camera, and a portable projector.

Thanks to the genius of Pranav Mistry it all comes together in a pointing, pulling, squeezing, stretching gestural kind of science fiction way that almost makes it seem cool to run around town with a portable projector dangling from your neck.
