Today's webtip: Mobileblogger.at

T-Mobile gets a new phone, Austria gets a new marketing concept.

Some of you may have noticed that a new phone was released just the other day. It didn't generate quite the buzz of another phone released last year, but it wasn't because people didn't try.

The G1, otherwise known as the Googlephone, is now available in Austria. It's a big deal for several reasons, most of which are completely unimportant to someone who just wants to get a new piece of kit to communicate with their friends and family.

For me, one of the most significant things about the phone's launch in Austria has been a part of its marketing campaign. It's one of the first attempts at generating buzz through blogs (in Austria) that has actually caught my attention. The basic idea was to invite a bunch of local bloggers to test out the G1 and write about it on their blogs. These posts would then be compiled on another site called Mobileblogger. The company behind the site, Ambuzzador, lists the project as a "pre-test", which is sort of a shame, because they actually managed to put together the basics of what could be a decent Austrian
gadget review site.

It will be interesting to see just what they end up doing with this. In the mean time, it's a great way to find some new tech bloggers you might not have known, and to learn a little about the new phone in town.
