Today's webtip: rpeek
One of my favorite forms of folk music is basically just a story told to music. Now I know what you're thinking. You're thinking "Dave, MOST folk songs are just stories told to music". And you would be right. But you would also be wrong.
Because I really mean it's just someone telling a story. Not singing, not rhyming, just kicking back and sharing a story. Maybe you know "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie. That's the kind of story telling I am talking about.
Richard, alias rpeek, is a musician, tinkerer, wrench turner and slam poet. He has made quite a few videos for youtube, some about home improvement, some about hot rodding, and some about the banjo and how to play it.
In one video he tells us the story of how he came to pick up the instrument. It's a nice little piece, but if you don't understand him, don't worry. His accent lightens up in his other films...
