Today's Webtip: Airprint

a few ways to make it useful for the rest of us.

The release of iOS 4.2 brought a new system wide feature to the iDevices that had previously only been possible withh the purchase of a few specialty apps. Printing. Airprint was Apple's answer to the printing problem, and like many things surrounding the iPhone an idea that was basically sound fell just a bit short in the implementation.

Iother words, Airprint only worked with a handful of relatively new HP printers. Epson has also announced that new printers would support it, but that still means that anyone using any other printer is out of luck.

Or would be if there wasn't a way to activate Airprint for network shared printers. As usual, there is the crunchy command lide method of getting things to work, or you can go stupid with a nice graphical interface and easy point and click.

Mac users can keep it simple with Airprint Activator and Windows types can make it work with a littlw help from a blog post at Jaxov. Linux users can also get it working, but it seems to be at least somewhat distro specific so I wont try to post to any how to's here.

I'm pretty sure you cafigure that out.
