Young U.S.-based writer-director Ana Lily Amirpour makes her complete lack of money up with style in her indie debutfilm "A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night". The postmodern horror tale is set in the Iranian ghost-town Bad City, a place that reeks of death and loneliness, the townspeople are unaware they are being stalked by a lonesome vampire. North Korea executions
Executions and purges are nothing new in North Korean politics but the latest news from the Hermit Kingdom is really raising eyebrows. South Korea is reporting that North Korean defence minister, Hyon Yong Chol was executed by anti-aircraft fire for not showing the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un enough respect. We get analysis from our South Korea correspondent, Steve Evans.

ÖVP
The ÖVP (the Austrian People’s Party) wants to give itself a facelift and become younger, more feminine and more modern. At a two day party conference that ends today, various proposals were put forward aimed at coming up with a party programme more in step with a changing world. Political analyst, Thomas Hofer gives us his take.

EU migrant quotas
People fleeing war, persecution or natural disaster: It is something that is as old as humanity and which often exposes our lack of humanity towards those less fortunate. The EU Commission would like to implement a quota system to spread more fairly the burden of migrants crossing the Mediterranean. Brussels correspondent, Jack Parrock tells us who’s in favour and who’s not.

ISIS will undoubtedly be at the top of the agenda of a NATO meeting currently being held in Turkey. However, in the wake of recent events in Ukraine, the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are concerned about what Russia will do next. FM4’s Chris Cummins was recently in the Latvian capital, Riga and spoke to Krišjanis Ozols of the Latvian Institute.

Artist Of The Week: Django Django
Sie kannten einander von der Edinburgh School of Art, wo sie nicht etwa Musik, sondern Malerei studierten. Jahre später fanden sie einander in London wieder. Drummer/Produzent Dave Maclean arrangiert die Songs von Gitarrist Vinnie Neff als wären sie Dance Tracks, stets auf der Suche nach dem "Roll", den der Rock irgendwo verloren hat, gern auch via Umweg über psychedelische Gefilde. Spätestestens seit ihrem Debüt-Album aus dem Jahr 2012 sind Tommy Grace (Keyboards) und Jimmy Dixon (Bass) zu vollwertigen Djangos geworden. Man hat die Festivals der Welt bespielt, und das Zweitwerk "Born Under Saturn" entdeckt dementsprechend jetzt auch die Liebe zu massentauglichen Refrains. Trotzdem sind Django Django immer noch keine Band im traditionellen Sinn. Mehr sowas wie eine klingende Bastelgruppe. (Robert Rotifer)

Mystery im Nadelwald: Diese Woche startet die von M. Night Shymalan (The 6th Sense) produzierte Show "Wayward Pines". Ein hochkarätiger Cast (u.a. Matt Dillon, Juliette Lewis, Terrence Howard) wandelt hier auf den Spuren von "Twin Peaks". Kleinstadt, Mord, Geheimnisse, möglicherweise Übersinnliches? Philipp L'heritier hat "Wayward Pines" vorab gesehen.

NDW-Star wider Willen ("Fred vom Jupiter"), Regisseur, Künstler, Elektro-Pop-Musiker – der deutsche Tausendsassa Andreas Dorau blickt zurück auf eine über 30-jährige Karriere. Gemeinsam mit Sven Regener hat er ein abenteuerliches Leben in eine kurzweilige, anekdotische Biografie gepackt. Philipp L'heritier hat "Ärger mit der Unsterblichkeit" gelesen und sich mit Andreas Dorau unterhalten.

Times Up Workshop "Possible Futures of Migration"
Gegenwärtig leben Menschen aus 158 Nationalitäten in Linz. Zuzug, unabhängig davon, ob temporär oder dauerhaft, soll und wird auch zukünftig das Bild der oberösterreichischen Landeshauptstatt mitbestimmen, es bereichern, herausfordern und gestalten. Deshalb veranstaltet der Linzer Kunst- und Kulturverein am 27. Mai den Workshop "Possible Futures of Migration", bei dem es um das interkulturelle Zusammenleben in Linz 2035 geht. Faith No More Spezial
18 Jahre mussten Fans von Faith No More auf ein neues Album-Lebenszeichen der Band warten. Dafür zelebriert das House of Pain die Veröffentlichung von „Sol Invictus“ heute ganz gehörig. Zum einen mit etlichen Hörproben aus dem rundum gelungenen Werk, zum anderen mit Greatest Hits der kalifornischen Funk-Noise-Rocker, denen die Schublade „Crossover“ immer viel zu einengend war. Ebenfalls auf dem Programmzettel steht die punkrockige Basement Show von und mit Rainer Springenschmid.
