The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the largest humanitarian network in the world. The International Committee of the Red Cross has a mandate under international law to protect victims of armed conflicts and has won three Nobel Peace Prizes. This Saturday Reality Check talks to the Director General of the ICRC Directorate, Yves Daccord. He describes how over 150 years the founding principle has remained the same, but the challenges faced on the ground are very different.
