Heute ist der “Hipster Awareness Day!” Also raus mit den Bücherei-Stoffsackerl und steht endlich zu eurem Stil. Und dann noch ein bisschen Bildungsauftrag: Wale, die Motorboot-Sounds nachmachen, die schlimmsten Nobelpreis-Fehlentscheidungen und Johanna, der wieder ziemlich viel nicht gefällt. Und womit? Caritas Betreuungszentrum Gruft

The difficult financial situation is leading to more people finding themselves on the streets. Though figures vary from country to country there are an estimated 3 million people homeless in Europe. Ahead of World Homeless Action Day (on the 10th day of October) Chris Cummins visits the Gruft in Vienna. As well as discovering more about the Caritas Center that cares for those facing life without a roof over their heads, he also visit areas of the city where young people are sleeping rough. What pushes them into homelessness, what happens after they end up on the streets and what help can be given to them. Read more....

Interview Duke Spirit
Die Londoner Band The Duke Spirit, angeführt von der charismatischen Sängerin Liela Moss, steht wohl mehr für Wüstenrock anstatt Britpop. Das quintett veröffentlichte bereits zwei Alben, doch mit dem neuen – Titel: „Bruiser“ – setzt man nun zum größeren Sprung an. In Österreich waren The Duke Spirit auch zum ersten Mal, im Rahmen des Waves Vienna Festival, wo Eva Umbauer sie auch zum Interview getroffen hat.

Spiel: F1 in 2011
Zur aktuellen Formel-1-Saison gibt es ein weiteres Mal ein aufwändig gestaltetes Videospiel. Roland Gratzer stuft Formel 1 selbst als einen auffallend langweiligen Sport ein, kennt sich aber trotzdem gut damit aus. Die perfekte Voraussetzung, um sich auch mit dem dazugehörigen Game näher zu beschäftigen.

Lesestoff: Christina Maria Landerl: Verlass die Stadt
Verlass die Stadt ist der erste Roman der 1979 in Steyr geborenen Christina Maria Landerl. Sie hat am Literaturinstitut Leipzig studiert, ist ausgebildete Sozialpädagogin und hat in den letzten Jahren für ihre Prosa schon eine Sammlung an Preisen aufgehäuft. In Verlass die Stadt verwebt sie Pop-Roman mit Lyrik. Eine Geschichte über Identitätssuche und gleichzeitig ein Wien-Reiseführer und ein Porträt der alternativen österreichischen Szene. David Pfister hat den Roman gelesen und mit Christina Maria Landerl gesprochen.
