Universal: Canadian Housing Crises
In the last decade or so, various northern communities in Canada have encountered unique and unprecedented housing crises, making it either difficult to buy or sell a home; or in some cases, both.
For this week's edition of FM4 Universal, we sent our reporter Michael Jagger (and his twin brother John Batman) to find out what is at the root of these terrible crises of Canadian housing.

Episode 1: In the small town of Cow Tongue at a point where western Canada's borders graze those of northern Alaska, there is a small but increasingly urgent crisis in housing. Although many cheap homes are on offer in this tiny community of twenty-eight persons and one dog, it can be sometimes difficult to get into the houses at all, to even inspect them.

Episode 2: Today, the village of Moose Gob in northern Canada is undergoing a small but increasingly urgent crisis of housing. Although many cheap homes are on offer in this tiny community of thirty-one persons and an albino mongoose, it can be sometimes difficult to find the homes. Some have even questioned if the houses exist at all.

Episode 3: In the tiny village of Dildo, on the island of Newfoundland, there has been a particular kind of housing crisis taking place over the last few decades. Many beautiful houses have been built, but few buyers have shown interest. Real estate agents have resorted to desperate measures to try to attract fickle and eccentric home-buyers.

Episode 4: In the small city of Nuance, New Brunswick, there is a booming housing market; however, hidden behind the strong economic growth is a crisis of a rather different nature. Due to growing problems with alcoholism, there are very few professional men interested in or capable of becoming realtors, and selling property. But where there is vacuum, there is also opportunity.
