Today's Webtip: Alternative to?
Have you ever had to find software for an OS that you weren't terribly familiar with? Or come to the realization that the software you have been using just wasn't good enough?
Trying to find alternatives to your accustomed tools can be rough. Search alone is rarely enough, as it's rare to find well organized accounts of alternative software. You might eventually be able to put together a pretty good list after digging through some forums and hitting enough sites, but trying to find a quick multiplatform overview is pretty hard.

But it just so happens to be the strength of alternativeto.net You can choose to search in a specific operating system, or you can do a cross-platform search to find as many alternatives as possible. You can narrow your search by license, and can add your own recommendations if you find something is missing.

It's not perfect yet, and their are more than a few apps missing, but it's a pretty useful resource, and I hope it will solve those problems in the near future.
